The year that passed
We will continue to fight until all animals are free
We're not afraid to say it: 2022 has been a crazy year in so many ways. So crazy, in fact, that we have far too many highlights to share with you.
One of the things we must mention is KyllingeKampen(Chicken Fight). The campaign has been running for several years, and every year we save more animals. This year, Rema1000 dropped turbo chickens. This is a huge victory for the animals, which we have been working towards for a long time. We recognize and celebrate all of you who have put time, effort, and energy into making this happen. Thank you for what you do for the animals. As we enter the new year, the fight is not over. We are still out on the streets in all weathers, fighting for Coop to drop turbo chickens. But if there is one thing that 2022 has shown us, it is that we will not give up. And the Danish people agree with our message. In 2022 alone, more than 10,000 people signed a petition calling on Coop to follow in Rema1000's footsteps and stop selling turbo chickens!
Free wings and free fins
In 2022, we will unveil a long-awaited project: the fishing campaign "Frie Finner"(Free Fins )! Although the campaign itself has not yet been launched, we have hired a talented full-time campaign employee in 2022. She has done her research, developed a strategy, and at the time of writing, she is planning the launch of the fishing campaign on January 7. We can't wait to see what happens in 2023. You can read more about fish here.
Demonstrations against fur
Isn't fur becoming a thing of the past? Apparently not, if it's up to politicians. Mink farming has been made legal again, and we don't understand why. In 2022, we fought hard to stop fur farming, with demonstrations across the country and on the opening day of the Danish Parliament. And we have been heard. We have been featured in the national media, which has covered both our fur campaigns and other activism for animals! Read more about fur here.
There are more and more of us doing more and more
And now for some truly remarkable figures and insight into what is happening behind the scenes. In 2022, 1,000 individuals have chosen to become members of Dyrenes Alliance and in addition, a significant number have chosen to become super supporters. It is truly remarkable to see how many people want to make a difference for animals. And we can clearly feel that something big is happening in our association and in the movement. Our team has grown, so we can make an even bigger difference! We have two new full-time employees, the aforementioned campaign worker, Louise, a country coordinator, Maria, and a new chairperson of the board, Victoria.
We strive to become more effective and save more animals. That is why, in 2022, we have attended conferences on animal rights, held and participated in workshops, and organized FOKUS weekends.
We have organized activism at major festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Folkemødet, Northside, and many more. We have held 750 events nationwide!!! That is more than two per day on average! We have undoubtedly reached hundreds of thousands of people who have been informed about animal welfare and plant-based food. Almost a hundred activists have also ordered free activism materials from our website—it's so cool to see how much you are doing for the animals.
Finally, there is not much more to say than: THANK YOU!
We cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for everything you do for the animals.
It is so clear to see that a change is happening in society. More and more people are eating vegan, more people are becoming aware of animal suffering, and more people have the courage to make a difference.
We hope you will join us in making 2023 an even better year for animals!
