The Year That Passed
The Fight Continues – Until All Animals Are Free
We’re not afraid to say it: 2022 was an intense year in so many ways. So intense, in fact, that we have way too many highlights to share with you.
One thing we have to mention is KyllingeKampen— a campaign that’s run for several years, saving more animals each year. This year, Rema1000 dropped the turbo chickens. This is a huge victory for animals that we’ve fought for a long time. We acknowledge and celebrate everyone who devoted time, effort, and energy to make this happen. Thank you for standing up for the animals. As we enter the new year, the fight isn’t over. We’re still out in all weather fighting for Coop to drop turbo chickens. But if 2022 has shown us anything, it’s that we don’t give up. And the Danish people agree with our message. Just in 2022, more than 10,000 people signed a petition urging Coop to follow Rema1000’s lead and drop turbo chickens!
Free Wings and Free Fins
In 2022, we unveiled a long-awaited project: the fish campaign “Frie Finner”! Though the campaign hasn't officially launched yet, this year we hired a skilled full-time campaign worker. She has conducted research, developed strategy, and at this moment, is planning the fish campaign rollout on January 7. We can’t wait to see what 2023 brings. You can read more about fish here.
Demonstrations Against Fur
Is fur not a thing of the past? Apparently not if politicians have their way. The governmenthas legalized mink farming again , and we don’t understand why. Throughout 2022, we fought hard to end fur farming with, og vi fatter ikke hvorfor. I 2022 har vi kæmpet hårdt for at stoppe pelsavl, med demonstrations across the country, including on Parliament’s opening day. Our voices have been heard: national media have covered our fur protests and other animal rights activism! Read more about fur here.
More of Us Doing More
Now for some incredible numbers and a peek behind the scenes. In 2022, 1,000 people chose to become members of Dyrenes Alliance — plus many more became super supporters! It’s amazing to see how many people want to make a difference for animals. We can definitely feel a major shift happening in our association and the movement. Our team has grown so we can make an even bigger impact! We’ve added two full-time staff: campaign worker Louise (mentioned earlier), national coordinator Maria, and new board chair Victoria.
We strive for greater efficiency to save more animals. So in 2022, we attended animal rights conferences, hosted and joined workshops and FOKUS weekends.
We brought activism to major festivals like Roskilde, Folkemødet, Northside, and many more. We held 750 events nationwide—that’s more than two a day on average! We reached hundreds of thousands with information about animal suffering and plant-based food. Nearly 100 activists ordered free activism materials from our website—it’s so inspiring to see all you do for the animals. så fedt at se, hvor meget I gør for dyrene.
Finally, there’s only one thing left to say: THANK YOU!
We can’t stress enough how grateful we are for everything you do for the animals.
It’s clear that society is changing. More people are eating vegan, more are opening their eyes to animal suffering, and more are ready to take action.
We hope you’ll join us in making 2023 an even better year for animals!
