CARE 2022
This year, Dyrenes Alliance sent a group on a study trip to Warsaw to attend Europe's leading animal rights conference, CARE. Katrine from Dyrenes Alliance Slagelse wrote this blog post sharing her experiences at CARE.
If you're interested in learning how to make the biggest impact for animals and take part in exciting educational opportunities both in Denmark and abroad, volunteer with Dyrenes Alliance!
Join DA abroad!
Each year, DA members travel abroad to strengthen activists, community, and networks with international organizations.
Imagine a world where everyone eats vegan, and everyone works to reduce as much animal suffering as possible. Imagine sitting in a lecture hall learning from some of the longest-standing activists in the animal rights movement... You are now at CARE.
This year’s focus was on optimization and animal welfare campaigns. L214 from France delivered an impressive and inspiring presentation about their fight against the breeding of super chickens, including a mobile showroom of a chicken barn inside a truck and burger boxes with graphic surprises. There were also great opportunities to improve organizational and leadership skills, including an excellent session on public speaking and communication—something valuable for street activists as well.

The CARE schedule was packed with great talks, so it was important to remind ourselves to take breaks and conserve energy for the wonderful dinners Dyrenes Alliance held at various restaurants. It was lovely meeting DA members from all over Denmark, realizing how many of us there are, making new friends, and being inspired by other local chaptersactivists. The dinners featured a wide range of culinary treats from around the world. Victoria and Jason really chose great venues for us: from a small Mexican spot, to plates of vegan sushi, to The Botanist, where you could really feel jetset and enjoy delicious European dishes.

Conversations are often richer when stretching your legs after a tasty dinner, and Warsaw is an exciting mix of old and new. The walks themselves were an experience. Along the large river cutting through Warsaw, there's a cool beach promenade with bars crafted from containers and beach chairs in street style. We partied there in the evenings with other passionate activists from around the world. We discussed global issues and shared activist stories. There are so many inspiring people here! Some are new to the animal rights fight, bringing boundless energy and contagious motivation, while others contribute years of valuable experience, both good and bad. Regardless, you’re surrounded by kind people with fresh insights and a burning heart for the animals.
