Youth Association Launches New Fish Campaign: “We Won’t Stop Until All Fish Are Free”

The Youth Association Plantespringet launches their brand-new campaign, Free Fins, this Saturday, January 7. The launch event will take place at Aarhus Volunteer Center from 5-8 PM, where young activists, staff, and all curious supporters will celebrate this new push for fiskand reveal their ambitious campaign goals to guide their animal rights activism.
Victoria Santos, spokesperson for Dyrenes Alliance, Victoria Santos, ser frem til foreningens fremadrettede fokus på fisk. “Bare fordi de ser anderledes ud end os - at de har skæl i stedet for hud, og gæller i stedet for lunger - bliver fisk ofte misforstået. Men vi har mange ting til fælles med dyr med finner. F.eks. lever de ofte i komplekse sociale grupper, har unikke personligheder og oplever smerte og frygt, når de bliver skadet. I Dyrenes Alliance kæmper vi for for en verden, hvor fisk ikke bliver mishandlet, spærret inde eller udnyttet af mennesker - og vi stopper ikke, før alle fisk er frie,” udtaler hun.
The Most Vulnerable Animal Group
Fishing is a disaster for the ocean and its inhabitants. It is estimated that between 2 and 3 trillion fish are killed by humans every year. This makes fish the most vulnerable animal group in the animal industry. Around 94% of the world’s fish stocks are either overfished or on the brink of collapse.
Everyone Is Welcome
The launch event this Saturday will feature a campaign presentation by campaign leader Louise Anna Ladegaard. Following that, the documentary "How Conscious Can A Fish Be?" will be screened. Ryuji Chua, the filmmaker behind the documentary, will honor us by presenting his work and explaining why focusing on fish is fundamental in the fight for animal rights. All are welcome to attend.
