Become a volunteer at Folkemødet 2026 with Dyrenes Alliance
You can help inspire politicians and attendees to choose plant-based at this year’s biggest democracy festival.
Dyrenes Alliance is once again aiming to attract as many people and politicians as possible. We do this by serving plant-based samples (sausages, burgers, and grilled food) cooked fresh at our own booth.
We also host grilling contests with politicians and feature media coverage.
But we can’t do it without your help. We need 10 volunteers ready to help us influence as many politicians and festival-goers as possible to leave animals alone and eat plants instead.
Departure: Tuesday, June 9 (generally, but we offer buffer days).
Return trip: Sunday, June 14, 2026 (generally, with buffer days available).
We provide transport, lodging, food, and merch if you want to help us speak up for animals.
What do I get out of volunteering?
We cover your transport from anywhere in Denmark to Allinge, departing Tuesday, June 9 (or Wednesday, June 10 if necessary), and back to Copenhagen Sunday, June 14. While on Bornholm, you’ll get full meals during your volunteer shifts, plus free camping space if you bring your own tent (or borrow one of ours) nearby. You’ll also receive a welcome pack with t-shirts and merch.
Most importantly, you’ll join an amazing team of volunteers committed to fighting for animals. Many find lifelong friends and great joy in making a real difference. With over 3,000 free events for 110,000 guests—including parties, concerts, debates, exhibitions, and workshops—you’ll always find something engaging when you’re off duty.
How long will I be away?
We mainly travel together in groups on Tuesday, June 9 by bus and ferry. We also have limited options for arriving Wednesday, June 10 if you absolutely cannot come earlier (but you’ll miss out on plenty of pre-festival fun!).
Return is Sunday morning. You’ll be back in Copenhagen by 3:30 pm, leaving plenty of time to get home comfortably.
How many hours do I need to commit?
Volunteers generally work 18 hours during Folkemødet: three 6-hour shifts over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You’ll also pitch in a few hours with setup and social time upon arrival and on Wednesday—the day before Folkemødet officially begins.
Where are we located?
Dyrenes Alliance has a 3x6m tent in a prime spot with ocean views at A27—right across from the Youth Schools and the Indian Embassy, near the Danish Vegetarian Association and Plantebranchen. See technical map 1 here for an overview of the area.
We sleep at Camp Ung Agenda, within walking distance of Folkemødet.
Camp Ung Agenda is a large communal camp for under-30s, centrally located in Allinge. At Folkemødet 2024, about 4,500 young people stayed there.
Camp Ung Agenda is located at Pilegade 33-35 in Allinge town.

What else can I do at Folkemødet?
As mentioned, Folkemødet offers over 3,000 free events to its 110,000 guests.
During your free time, you can join:
– Parties (like DJ battles where politicians compete to get the tent to lift as high as possible—an absolute must-see)
- Morning/evening swims at the beach near Folkemødet
- Bingo events (like the popular Peach Bingo, usually hosted by Alternativet’s Youth)
- Concerts (musicians perform smaller shows around the venue throughout Folkemødet)
- Debates (sharp discussions everywhere, including youth political debates by DUF opening Folkemødet on Wednesday evening)
- Exhibitions and workshops (Folkemødet features critical art zones, and the Youth Schools next door always run many workshops for young people).
- Explore Bornholm: Though most of your time will be spent at Folkemødet, you can hop on a bus to see Hammershus, Opelsø, Paradisbakkerne, or visit Krøllebølle to ask if he’s serving vegan ice cream instead—just be sure to return before your shifts start.
What should I pack?
If this is your first time at Folkemødet, here are handy tips from seasoned attendees for your stay at Camp Ung Agenda:
Water bottle (stay hydrated!)
Layered clothing (to keep warm in late evenings and nights)
Sunscreen (after all, it's the Sunshine Island)
Rain gear (the weather doesn’t always live up to 'Sunshine Island')
Comfortable shoes (you’ll walk and dance more than you expect)
Earplugs (in case the neighbor snores)
Sleep mask (to ensure your beauty rest)
