Dyrenes Alliance at Plant Based Expo 2022

Dyrenes Alliance took part in DVF’s plant-based expo to show how this diet can save countless animals from horrific fates. In our mission to reveal and expose the reality for animals, we showcased virtual reality (iAnimal) alongside flyers and merchandise. We also seized the opportunity to recruit new members and more signed up for VeganerUdfordringen.

The featured companies had inviting booths and delicious samples. Though most products are only available in select stores, it was obvious these brands stand ready to scale up production anytime if there’s demand. Most talks on the main stage focused on health, awards, and building a greener shopping basket.

The expo wasn’t about animal conditions per se, but Casper and the panel (Casper Christiansen, Vicki Berlin, Thomas Erex, and Søren Bregendal) powerfully articulated that the core reason for veganism is moral and animal ethics. Ulrich Kern-Hansen from Organic Plant Protein highlighted a critical issue on Sunday: legume sales have barely increased in the last three years.

That the vegan markets are bigger outside Denmark makes sense. It’s simply tough to sell vegan products to Danish consumers.

This largely stems from Danish food habits being nearly sacred, a massive barrier to green progress and animal liberation. Kern-Hansen added that Danes tend to want their food culture left alone, and he’s right. Overall, I’m proud of the impact Dyrenes Alliance made. Both days saw active engagement at our booth, and volunteers maintained constructive, enlightening conversations throughout. Thank you all!
