Slack Guide

Dear activist,

Welcome to Dyrenes Alliance!

We’re glad you’ve joined us. As part of our team, we want to introduce you to our main communication platform – Slack. You should have received an email invitation to join our Slack workspace at dyrenesalliance.slack.com. If you haven’t gotten it, please contact us.

How to use Slack:

  1. Accept the invitation: Open the email we sent and click "Join now" to set up your account. You’ll be prompted to create your username and password.

  2. Navigation: Once logged in, you’ll see various “channels” listed on the left side of your screen. These are our chat rooms for different topics. Click any channel to join.

  3. Join relevant channels: We encourage you to join the channels that fit your work or interests. For example, if you’re involved in our Free Finns campaign, you might want to join the #friefinner channel.

  4. Introductions: We have a #introductions channel where everyone new shares a bit about themselves. Write a short message telling us about you, your passions, and what you hope to achieve as an activist.

  5. Posting messages: Sending a message is as simple as typing in the text box at the bottom of your screen and hitting Enter. You can also reply to others’ messages to keep conversations organized.

  6. Private messages: Send private messages to individuals or groups by clicking the “+” icon next to 'Direct messages' on the left sidebar. Search for and select who you want to message, then press Enter.

  7. Uploading files: Click the paperclip or “+” icon in the text field to upload files. This is a great way to share documents or images.

  8. Notifications: Customize your notifications in settings so you only get alerted about important updates. You can also set yourself to 'Do Not Disturb' when you need to focus.

Why using Slack matters:

Slack is an invaluable tool for our work in Dyrenes Alliance. It lets us communicate and collaborate across teams and projects, making sure everyone has access to the information they need, when they need it. Plus, it helps us keep conversations and topics organized, boosting our effectiveness and unity.

Being an active participant on our Slack is a vital part of being an activist with Dyrenes Alliance. It keeps you updated on the latest news, helps you connect with fellow activists, and strengthens our community.

Thank you for joining our team. We look forward to seeing you on Slack!

Sincerely,

Plantespringet
