Job Posting:
Volunteer Coordinator for Jutland and Possibly Funen

50-60 hours per month | 170 DKK per hour | Flexible work arrangement

Do you want to strengthen an ambitious volunteer community for animals and help more people become active in the movement?

Dyrenes Alliance is looking for a volunteer coordinator with Jutland as the primary area and possibly responsibility for parts or all of Funen.

You will work closely with both volunteers and our other part-time volunteer coordinator, who is based at the office in Copenhagen. Together, you will ensure new and existing volunteers are warmly welcomed, have clear opportunities to get involved, and feel their efforts are meaningful and appreciated.

We are looking for someone people-oriented, organized, and action-driven. You must build warm relationships, maintain oversight, and make things happen.

About Dyrenes Alliance

Dyrenes Alliance works to make veganism mainstream and empower the next generation of animal rights activists. We create campaigns, communities, and opportunities that make it easier for more people to engage effectively for animals.

We are an ambitious, values-driven organization where people can grow, thrive, and support each other.

About the Position

As a volunteer coordinator, you handle the entire volunteer journey—from first contact and onboarding to active participation, follow-up, and ongoing engagement.

Your top responsibility is ensuring that activities for the animals actually happenThe goal is for volunteers to become as self-sufficient as possible—taking initiative, planning, and carrying out actions independently. You help turn ideas into action, keep things on track, follow up, and remove practical or organizational barriers.

You won’t need to run every activity yourself. But if an action stalls or volunteers need extra support, we expect you to step in actively to keep good initiatives alive.

At first, expect to spend a lot of time at events meeting volunteers face-to-face. This is essential to understand the volunteer community and local conditions, build relationships, and become a visible Dyrenes Alliance presence. During this period, you’ll also represent the organization more often and provide hands-on help at activities.

As relationships form and volunteers become more independent, most work will likely shift to remote tasks—communication, follow-up, planning, and coordination. You’ll then primarily attend large or specially chosen events in person where your presence makes a critical impact. The balance will still vary with activity levels.

You’ll work closely with our other part-time volunteer coordinator based in Copenhagen. Jutland will be your main region, with Funen involvement coordinated based on geography, relationships, and what works best in practice.

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include:

  • welcoming new volunteers, onboarding them, and guiding them towards concrete activities

  • following up with volunteers to support their motivation, well-being, and ongoing involvement

  • helping volunteers and local key figures become self-sufficient and drive activities themselves

  • providing guidance, keeping overview, and resolving practical or organizational barriers

  • coordinating volunteer needs, information, roles, and materials when necessary

  • attending larger or specially selected activities in person

  • working closely with the other volunteer coordinator and the rest of the staff

  • contributing to a safe and inclusive volunteer environment and involving your immediate supervisor in conflicts or concerns

You will use tools like Slack, Discord, Asana, Google Drive, ChatGPT, and relevant automations to stay organized, improve communication, and ensure no knowledge or agreements are lost.

ChatGPT and automation

At Dyrenes Alliance, we’re AI-first but not AI-always. We consider whether ChatGPT or automation can make a task easier, faster, or better—but AI isn’t always the right solution.

Volunteer coordination is above all about people. Personal contact, sound judgment, and understanding individuals can’t be automated away. AI should be a practical tool for overview, developing materials, improving communication, and cutting repetitive admin—always with human oversight and responsibility for final outcomes.

You don’t need to be an expert but must be curious, quick to learn, and willing to use digital tools competently, responsibly, and thoughtfully.

We’re looking for someone who

  • is great with people and makes volunteers feel welcome, seen, and valued

  • works in an organized way, follows up, and gets things done

  • communicates warmly and clearly, balancing care with clear expectations

  • thrives with responsibility and independence but also collaborates well and seeks support when needed

  • is willing to travel and work with colleagues across the country

  • is curious about AI, automation, and new work methods

  • shares our values and is fluent in Danish—or actively learning it—and English

Experience in volunteer leadership, organizing, community building, facilitation, or onboarding is a plus but not required. Please apply even if you don’t match every point.

How We Work

We're a small workplace with strong cohesion, high trust, and great opportunity to influence. The path from idea to action is short, and you will have room to shape how work is best done within your area.

We expect you to take responsibility and work independently, but also easily share doubts, ask for help, and seek support. Training, guidance, and ongoing feedback will be provided.

We emphasize psychological safety, respectful communication, flexibility, and a work environment where people can develop and be taken seriously.

The position has limited hours, so tasks must be sharply prioritized. You’re not expected to handle all volunteer tasks, be constantly available, or single-handedly develop Dyrenes Alliance’s entire volunteer strategy.

Geography, travel, and office days

Work is flexible, combining remote work, digital coordination, and physical participation at relevant activities, volunteer meetings, and events.

Expect regular travel in Jutland and possibly Funen. Travel time and expenses are handled per Dyrenes Alliance’s travel policy.

We also expect you to visit our office in Nørrebro, Copenhagen about once a month. There you can work alongside the other volunteer coordinator and the staff. Office visits will be planned to maximize efficiency—combining meetings, workshops, training, support, and other shared activities on those days.

During onboarding, we’ll agree on the level of in-person presence needed for you to settle in and get to know the organization and your colleagues.

There may be periods when monthly office visits aren’t possible, for example due to exams or other temporary busy times. We’ll find a flexible solution together.

We offer

  • Close collaboration with dedicated volunteers, another volunteer coordinator, and an ambitious staff team

  • Practical experience with organizing, campaigns, activism, community building, and AI-supported workflows
